SOCKO @ Planetarium (Yerevan, Armenia)
Today Villahangar launches a new video on YouTube with an exceptional protagonist:
Socko, Armenian dj with a very original ethnic music style, rich of many sounds and melodies.
Socko is one of the artists present with the track titled “Gamma” on Villahangar’s Various Artists “Underwater” released last October, which feedback was captivating for him and he waits impatiently for new collaborations, besides going on a tour in Russia in the close future.
A track, created in a month, as he himself states, “daughter of the birth of his reflection on the essence of life”, and where “the atmosphere is that of a galactic journey into space in the discovery of your inner self, where electronic music leads to the reinterpretation of the universe”. A tough and groovy track, with a firm approach, in a mix of electronic sonorities rich of sounds, melancholic but at the same time very energetic, thanks to the analogical synthesizers.
Today’s video was filmed at Planetarium of Yerevan, in Armenia, magic location chosen as a homage to the galaxy from which the artists takes his name from. Its sees Socko protagonist during one of his dj sets, in a real interplanetary journey, musical but also mental.
An imaginary adventure between psychedelic visuals of effect and an intimate atmosphere which is also filled with energy, lived by the point of view of a participant, which brings with it that will to go back to the dancefloors as soon as possible.
Where does the dj set of your video take place?
I chose a particular location, also thanks to the space itself that helped to undertake the musical journey that I designed in this set: Planetarium of Yerevan, in Armenia, my homeland.
How was the idea of the chosen location born?
I love dreamlike atmospheres, and the theme of the planets is dear to me. That is the reason why I chose the planetary, because it connects to an identity concept for me: my pen name, “Socko”, is in fact that of a galaxy.
What was the main idea of the video on a creative point of view?
I wanted to show a new side of the story: the event lived from the point of view of a participant.
What music atmosphere did you focus on in this dj set?
On a sonorous point of view, the dj set resumes its basic concepts, accompanying the listener in a musical journey into another galaxy
There are a track of Diass, the Tribalistars Remix of Matt Sawyer of Knowhat and a track of Everything Counts. A comment on your decision to insert them into the set?
These are tracks that I really like, and I chose them because I think that they fit perfectly with the atmosphere: they have the right energy and emotions that I wanted to convey.
What are your projects at the moment and in your closer future, between collaborations and new dates?
As soon as it will be possible to start over with concerts and events, the first step that I will make will be a tour in Russia
Do you plan any new releases in the close future?
Currently, there is a new release planned with the label active since 2016 that I am part of Pipe & Pochet and on HupHupa
