ROCKIN MOROCCIN, DAVIDE RUBERTO “BAYATI SHIRAZ”
Villahangar continues 2023 with its fourth release of the new year: the label launches on March 24th “Bayati”, the new track by Rockin Moroccin (or Nabz), in his debut with the label.
DJ and producer, “the hardware is Moroccan but the software is English”: he was born in Italy and raised in London by Moroccan parents.
Immersed in music for over 20 years, from the love for the Electro 80s, he started playing at house parties while working in a drum and bass record store, Lucky Gira, on Kings Road.
Musically he does not like to be bound to a genre: Percussive, New Disco, Melodic and Tribal merge in his sets, but all genres have influenced him.
He grew up listening to jungle music, drum and bass and heavy metal along with traditional Moroccan folk music with his parents, big fans of Marvin Gaye and Tina Turner.
In the past he has shared the console with names like Keinemusik, Black Coffee, Luciano, Bedouin, Damien Lazarus, Guy Gerber, Blondish, Echonomist, Jenia Tarasol, Chaim, Birds of Mind, Marco Carola, Tale of Us, WhoMadeWho. He has played in sacred places of entertainment such as Ibiza and also at the famous Burning Man Festival.
He has worked with labels such as Get Physical and Go Deeva Records. His EP “Oud in C Minor” was released last June on Acousticdope, Davide Ruberto’s label: a new stage of their professional fellowship that today is renewed with a new track.
His new track “Bayati” with Villangar is in fact made together with the producer, Italian musician and extraordinary composer Davide Ruberto.
Ruberto, an established producer, has a career that began back in 1987. Great con- noisseur of music and nightlife, he has worked in the best clubs in the world, without forgetting the great experience with Claudio Cecchetto and Jovanotti both on television and radio.
“Bayati” is a real new musical challenge for Rockin Moroccin, with a decidedly melodic and tribal musical style, with a visceral passion for percussive rhythms.
Bayati is inextricably linked to Azerbaijan, home of the project and source of inspiration: the organic, solemn and mysterious atmosphere transports you on a sound, multisensory and imaginative journey to the capital Baku.
An exciting adventure that testifies to a new experiential level of the artist with voices and live instruments of popular tradition thanks to local musicians, for a foray into a magical and fascinating world with a thousand-year history that is ferried into the present.
