Toshka’s has had a deep bond with music since childhood, and she comes back on the scene for this week’s #MusicInTheAir.
Bulgarian from Sofia, in the past she was a dancer for famous clubs in Ibiza, in Switzerland and in Italy, and the will to experiment with her music knowledge brought her to the first encounter with vinyl in 1999, and in 2000 her career as a dj began.
She made her way quickly in the Switzerland music scene, offering her dj sets in famous clubs, and until 2005 she played regularly in Ibiza.
Another stationary presence for Toshka is on the radio, where she often gets invited with her live dj sets. She is in fact guest at Ibiza Global Radio, in different moments of the day.
In 2018 Toshka co-creates with Chris Leon the project Everything Counts, focusing on the music production that succeeded for labels such as 3000 Grad Records, Lump Records, Sudam Recordings, Radiant, Villahangar, Pipe & Pochet.
But not only: also Connected, MoBlack, Kinessen, And Other Moods, 3-4-1 Cuts, Seven Villas Music.
Toshka is an artist who loves a mental and hypnotizing music style, which finds its full expression with the project Everything Counts, thanks to rhythmically grove progressive sounds that blend harmoniously with refined ethnic elements.
For Villahangar she drafted her TOP 5 of all times.
Here it is, from the 70s until today.
I am honest, it was not easy at all for me to make a list of my favorite tracks limiting myself to only 5, since music has always been part of my life in such an important way: already when I was 2 I was a dj with my grandparents’ gramophone.
But I will try to propose you some songs of different eras, for a pleasant time travel.
Boney M. – Ma Baker
How many great memories from the Boney M, legendary discomusic band… at my beloved grandma’s house there was the vinyl which contained this track, “Ma Baker”.
I looped this song so much that once when my mother arrived, my grandma opened her the door saying: “Don’t anybody move, the money or your life…”. It is one of the memories I’m most attached to.
Voyage Voyage – Desireless
He says: “The perfect example of what I often tell myself while I produce, the notes, the tunes make the difference. It is a touching album, very melancholic of recent times but that, according to me, leaves a mark in time. Beautiful in the console for the closing of the evening”.
MATHIAS SCHAFFHAUSER – Hey little girl (Blue mix)
In the 90s in the global music scene a great mix of different styles occurred. It has spaced widely from house music, to trance, from techno to deep house… here it is a pearl that I consider indispensable, “hey little girl” of Mathias Schaffhäuser”.
It was the beginning track of one of my most beloved cd, “Groove factory”, which I listened to for years and years and which accompanied me in many travels.
Tigerhook Corp. – Machines of Paradise
These are the years when I also started my first dj steps, and over that time my music taste focused on deep house and progressive music.
I cite one of the songs on the genre between one of my many favorites, Tigerhook Corp. with “Machines of Paradise”.
With this track I opened many dj sets and I still like it deeply.
David Hohme – Fear Less (Hraach Remix)
Fear Less (Hraach Remix) was crucial to me: it marked my discovery of Hraach and his wonderful music. This track has always been in my heart and it thrills me with its very remarkable music elements.
For the choice of the tracks in today’s Podcast, I decided to put together some of my favorite songs from the last 30 years. I therefore wanted to propose an elegant set, with refined tracks that I love very much.
