POLYRHYTHM & NUZU DEEP “COME FIND ME”
included remixes by : CHRIS LEON / SCALA
Villahangar welcomes 2023 with its first release of the new year: the label launches on January 27th “Come Find Me”, the new EP by PolyRhythm, a New Jersey-based duo formed by David Jonez and Val Carrique, in their debut with the label. In addi- tion to the track that gives the EP its name, two remixes: one by game designer and producer Scala, and one by DJ and producer Chris Leon, a member of Everything Counts.
Both of Latin descent, David from Cuba and Val from Uruguay, were born and raised in the United States. They met in elementary school, have been lifelong friends and began their musical journey in adolescence playing mainstream, hip hop and salsa until discovering the vibrant underground club scene of New York at the age of 18, where they fell in love with house music creating an event in their name exploring the many rhythms and sounds of the metropolis.
Their musical style, greatly influenced by their origins, is mainly focused on drums and percussion: a mixture of Afro House and Latin House, influenced by the many musical genres of the Big Apple such as Jazz, Soulful House, Hip Hop, Reggaeton and Rock.
Last January they launched their own label, PolyRhythm Music, ranging from afro house to latin house.
“Come Find Me” EP features the track of the same name: an emotional atmosphere with very melancholic vibrations, created thanks to a basic Afro-house groove with toms, rhythmic hats and an arpeggio. With the piano of Ezel, a very talented pianist, to cement the feeling of the track.
Elements crowned by the fascinating voice and the free creative vocation of Nuzu Deep, perfect for transporting into the musical vision signed by PolyRhythm.
Come Find Me is the warning that repeats itself, that captures the essence of the track, and becomes desire, emotional hope, fluid magic in its pure state.
Two remixes are present: one by game designer and producer Scala, and one by DJ and producer Chris Leon, a member of Everything Counts.
Scala has created a remix with a cinematic atmosphere and with a hybrid mood be- tween “drama” and “sexy”: he started from the voice from the original, rewriting the whole rhythmic part and then adding new chords and synths, dedicating himself par- ticularly to the management of the Toms to swing them and make them fluid on the general groove.
Chris Leon created a remix with a fresh, carefree and even a little nostalgic vibe, keep- ing vocals and part of the melody bringing the track into a summery, Caribbean mood. He created every single element of the groove also playing with sounds already present, modifying them so as to obtain personalized percussive sounds, introducing new more particular chords, with a drafting that gave importance to the voice and the piano.
