Today begins a new chapter for Villahangar, with this week’s #MusicInTheHair begins the collaboration with UTMOZT agency and presents one of its djs and producers, Sky White.

UTMOZT was born from the will of Double Drop from Mozambique, one of the artists of Villahangar’s Various Artists musical project [#UNDERWATER] launched last October.

The agency has as a goal the promotion of new talents from Mozambique, in the electronic musical international landscape. A mission that it follows embracing different musical genres, as a result without ignoring but rather celebrating the artistic identities of each one of them. In other words, artistic individualities that sink roots deeply in their cultural identity, and consequently influence their musical development.

UTMOZT aims to encourage the appreciation of art made in Mozambique. For instance, it makes available to the audience a panel of artists in growth highly selected. Above all, doing so, it contributes to instilling ethical ​​and responsible values in the culture at a global level.

Today’s protagonist artist og the Afro Tech Podcast is Sky White. His path in music started very soon with piano, at the age of 10.

It was decisive to him a Black Coffee performance (Ballantine’s Human Orchestra) in 2014, which dazzled him and pushed him to getting closer to House and djing music when he was only 16.

Therefore he refined his art playing at parties and local events, after that he produced a selection of tracks signed by one of the Afro House most famous labels, Afrocentric.

In conclusion he has received positive feedback from djs all over the world, relevant names such as Tales Of Us, Da Capo, Enoo Napa, Kusussa, Xtetiqsoul.

How do you approach a DJ set? Which is your configuration and your way of conveying emotions?

It is strictly tied to the way in which I think all off the artists make their music. If you feel joy as a result, the crowd will definitely feel you. In other words, you know what sounds good.

I recommend the track Do Kato Change ft Winyo Abiro (Da capo Remix) because I think is an interesting and exciting track. Moreover, I am very grateful for his big help supporting my work.

How did your meeting with Villahangar come about and how and why did you decide to promote yourself here?

I got to know well the label well through a Double Drop’s podcast, and through a release he has on the label. I came to the label thanks to UTMOZT, because that is the agency where I am. Villahangar platform is very interesting and very cultural.
