#MusicInTheAir Podcast hosts this week :
RAS ALGETHI
Villahangar for its fall 2021 continues to welcome new artists into its musical orbit.
For this week the #MusicInTheAir Podcast’s host is the Russian producer Ras Algethi, real name of Dmitrii Kovalenko.
Ras Algheti is quickly gaining momentum in the melodic techno scene: his music combines indeed beautiful melodies creating an amazing atmosphere, deep basslines and an incredible story in every track.
Most often he is dedicated to Progressive House and Melodic Techno, but in the same time he tries not to stick to a certain style, preferring to experiment. He says: “At the moment, I’m still looking for my own sound, but most likely it will be something experimental. The music I write is connected with moments from my life. Each of my tracks has its own story. I want everyone who listens to my tracks to be charged with positive energy :)”.
Theirs was a real musical love at first sight: their artistic partnership was born thanks to a deep harmony, immediately after discovering that they had exactly the same musical tastes.
From their union emerges a sound full of deep house-oriented vibrations with ethnic influences, in reference to their parents and grandparents and the love of both for travel and the discovery of new places.
Thus trying to convey energy and joie de vivre through music, a true language of expression and that describes their everyday feelings, going from power to softness.
At the moment Ras Algethi was signed to Somatic, BeatFreak, Sudam, Art Vibes Music, Lost On You, ICONYC, Truesounds Music, Alpha Black, Iconyc Noir and more.
Dmitrii is also part of the DABROMUSIC community and makes melodic techno and house sample-packs.
When and how was your first meeting with music?
It was back in 2003. For the first time I got acquainted with the programs of Dance Ejay, etc., I think like many other producers. It was a very interesting activity for me. Since then, I have decided on plans for my future life. In 2006, at the university, my friend showed me Fruity Loops, which I use to this day. Since that time and until 2018, I was making heavier music, such as dnb and hardcore, released on major labels, and toured many European countries
What was the key meeting that changed your path?
The key moment was in 2017, when, in addition to dnb music, I experimented and tried myself in ambient music. One day I heard a Solomun mix on BoilerRoom and was very inspired by the Sevendoors track. After that, I realized what style of music I would be doing.
How was your podcast born?
It was a little difficult for me to record this podcast, due to the fact that I was traumatized and I walk with a cast on my right arm. But still I managed to record it and show in this podcast the tracks that I like at the moment.
What does it mean for you to be able to spread your music with Villahangar?
At the moment I’m preparing tracks for Villahangar, it’s always nice to work with good people. For me, this is an opportunity to show my music to new people. Music unites billions of people around the world 🙂
