#MusicInTheAir Podcast hosts this week :
NYTO

For this week’s MusicInTheAir Podcast returns the DJ and producer Tony Parra aka Dj NYTO, born and based in San Diego – California and raised in Tijuana, Mexico.
He started DJing in 2014, his first gig was in 2017 and his father has greatly influenced his today’s sound. He says, “I remember he always listened to old-school songs and African/tribe music.”
His creative direction over time has been carried out in a wide variation of sounds, in continuous evolution and transformation: from Electronica/Downtempo to Organic House, passing through Deep Tribal, Deep Shamanic, Afro House, Ethnic House, as well as Deep House and Tech House, with his personal interpretation of everything that surrounds him and inspires him for the signature of his sound.
He says: “My musical style is very versatile. I can play from 85bpm to 124bpm and I’ve definitely experienced some changes as an artist, always trying to improve myself and offer the best music out there, connecting with people in a magical and spiritual way.”
At the moment, the musical genres that influence him the most are Latin, Oriental, ancient, African, reggae and some even old-school tracks, and he is working on an hybrid set with a live percussionist.
He is also co-founder of Green Gods Records of San Diego CA, a new label created in 2020.

How do you live now and how have you lived in the recent past this particular moment for humanity of epidemic?
Since I have a full-time job right now, I’m an air traffic controller and luckily the pandemic hasn’t affected me much.
What do you think of San Diego’s music scene?
In San Diego the electronic scene has always existed but it is becoming more and more popular as we speak since it is a big city, there are many good promoters out there who are trying to bring big names to the city.
How have the last few months been for you? Have you had any DJ sets? Restrictions permitting, are you planning DJ sets right now for the future?
In the last few months I have done a couple of DJ sets one in Mexico City and the other in Los Angeles.
What could you say about your Podcast, sound and inspiration?
This podcast I created has a purpose, which is to tell a story. It isn’t just on this podcast, every time I’m on the decks I tell a story and I love seeing people and music becomes an element, when they listen to my music.
