Villahangar just launched its new release, 2021 second EP: “Tribalistars” of Knowhat, which includes also Matt Sawyer’s Remix and Miky J’s Remix “Villa Flamingo”, protagonist of this week’s #MusicInTheAir.

For his Podcast today he was guided by the inspiration from this moment of lively London turmoil, where he lives, creating a mix of tracks that abandon for an hour his comfort zone. In conclusion of it, the track created for the EP just released by Villahangar.

“Villa Flamingo”, this is the name of the Remix by Miky J: a title which mentions the place where the track was born, Villa Flamingo in Ibiza, located on a hill with pines and eucalyptus, between the San José area and the Cala Tarida beach.

A track born from the panoramic view of the sea, of the sunset and of the S’Espartar, Conillera and Es Vedrà islands: born from a relaxed atmosphere in a beautiful sunny day.

Miky J is an Italian musician, producer and dj based in London, class of 86, he discovered since he was very young, when he was 13, his aptitude in the choice of tracks at some birthday parties.

It was when he was 14 that, pushed by his passion for dance music, together with his friend Rickie Snice, he began to discover the djing art with belt driven turntables, spending hours in “The Lost Cellar”, a basement completely equipped under Rickie’s house. Searching for something always different and creating their own sounds on Acid, passing through Cubase and finally Ableton Live.

But it was not enough. Very soon began the years of dj sets in clubs and private parties, and productions in studio: in countries such as Italy, Spain, Ibiza and United Kingdom, Netherlands, North and South America, and radio broadcasts around Europe.

He collaborated with labels such as Bralli Rec., Lowered Recordings, Erase Records, Frivolous, Cutoff Rec. – the same label of Phunk Investigation, Spartaque, Cuartero, Dani & Ugo, Alex Young and Fabian Argomedo – and with his personal style, a mix of house, tech and deep sounds, he received the support from artists such as Tiva Starr, Pirupa, Tapesh, Birdee / Plaza De Funk and Carlo Toma, to quote some.

Recently, he published, between others, on Crossworld Records, Blue Dye, Bacci Bros Records.

He created with Rickie Snice the project “Two Dots”, a creative direction shared joining his melodic arrangements to the creativity and the techniques of his longtime friend, which gave birth to a successful remix.

Not only dj sets and music productions for Miky J: very active and concrete, he is also manager of artists and bookers: he is Co-owner and Managing Director of Aside Management, Booker of the London club Egg London, and A&R and Label Manager for Snatch! Records of Riva Starr, This And That Lab, Bamboleo and others.

How did this collaboration with Knowhat start?

It was back in the summer of 2020 that Knowhat asked me to remix his track and while on a sunny day or relax in Ibiza I got inspired and suddenly started it straight away with a rough idea in mind.

What tools did you use to create this track?

I used some of the percussions and drums of the original mix, then added other created my own beat plus added 4 different synths to create bassline and melodies.

How long did it take you to make it and how did you create it?

The main idea was put down in about 3-4 hours, then it took me a few days to properly extend it and get it mixed.

How do you foresee your summer, both in your everyday life and from an artistic point of view?

Most probably I’ll move to Ibiza again, really need to enjoy some good weather, sun and good food, and the vibe there is always unique, regardless of clubs being open or not.

What were your reference artists over time?

Well it is hard to say and difficult to express in few words, but I tend to get inspired from all kind of music, from classical to underground, from pop to country, from latin to rap….music at its best!
