#MusicInTheAir Podcast hosts this week :
CHRIS LEON
For today’s #MusiciInTheAir Podcast it is the turn of Chris Leon, member of the Villahangar team, along with co-founders Matt Sawyer and Andrea Pellizzari.
Chris’ contribution in the #MusicInTheAir Podcast managed by Matt and in the releases of the label is fundamental and invaluable: Chris carries out the irreplaceable scouting activity, daily and tirelessly.
His is the task of finding the most interesting artists on the scene, including many new names that are proving to be really promising. His is also the management of public relations, which has brought and continues to bring a large number of new artists.
DJ and producer, with a past as a member of Everything Counts, has had excellent feedback with the tracks and remixes released over time. He has worked with labels such as 3000Grad Records, a label launched in 2008 by Mollono.Bass, Cosmic Awakenings, with the well-known and followed label Pipe & Pochet founded by Patrik Khach in collaboration with Ali Farahani. With Seven Villas, Pablo Bolivar’s Spanish label, with Roze’s French And Other Moods label, with Enzo Siffredi’s Wired. And also, with MoBlack Records, attending the famous compilation that takes its name from the famous club of the same name Buddha Bar – “Peace & Love & Summer”, by the Parisian resident of Mauritanian origin Dj Ravin, active for more than twenty years.
He has collaborated with radio stations such as Pure Ibiza Radio and Rete 3, the most important radio station of Italian Switzerland Radio-Television, launched in 1988.
Among his most recent works, just released on Villahangar at the end of January, the remix of the track “Come Find Me” by PolyRhythm & Nuzu Deep.
Chris Leon created a remix with a fresh, carefree and even a little nostalgic vibe, keeping vocals and part of the melody bringing the track into a summery, Caribbean mood. He created every single element of the groove also playing with sounds already present, modifying them so as to obtain personalized percussive sounds, introducing new more particular chords, with a drafting that gave importance to the voice and the piano. Now, as always, he is busy with his daily A&R business for Villahangar and prepares as a DJ and producer for new adventures.
For the remix of the new Villahangar track “Come Find Me” by PolyRhythm & Nuzu Deep, what did you work on musically in terms of sound?
Nuzu’s voice involved me immediately and I wanted to give him a fresh carefree and also a bit nostalgic vibe, and that’s what I did. I kept voice and part of the melody bringing the track in a summery, Caribbean mood…
What’s the atmosphere like? Can you explain the inspiration in detail and how you created it from a technical point of view?
It’s a summer atmosphere! I created every single element of the groove also playing with sounds already present in the original record, modifying them so as to obtain personalized percussive sounds.
What do you think musically of the original song?
The voice and piano are magic! I didn’t think about it too much and decided to do a remix too!
What elements did you introduce on the musical level?
I have introduced new chords… more particular! But above all a draft that gave importance to the voice and the piano.
What do you think are the differences of your remix compared to the original?
My touch 🙂
