#MusicInTheAir Podcast hosts this week :
BOBE
Today for Villahangar’s Podcast it’s time for a young promising Bulgarian dj and producer from Sofia.
Bobe, who for the weekly MusicInTheAir appointment created a dj set that well represents his musical credo: a perfect symbiosis between melodic & progressive house, with a light touch of techno.
With over a decade of experience in the sector, Bobe created his own style over the years experimenting and going through a variety of genres in the electronic music scene, between different Progressive and Techno rhythms and vibrations.
Often inspired by names such as Tale of Us, Hernan Cattaneo, Enrico Sangiuiliano, but also by most part of the artists of the famous label “Anjunadeep”, he defines his style such as “deep and obsessive”: a mix of melodic, deep and progressive house enriched by a light touch of techno.
During his path Borislav Pavlov aka Bobe shared the stage of many events of the Bulgarian scene with different innovative artists, and today he is resident at Radio NOVA, the most important electronic music radio station in Bulgary.
Which is the recommended track in this DJ set?
I have to point out the last track of the set: my own edit/remix of Billie Eilish’s Lovely. It was done a bit unexpectedly, in a very spontaneous way. On top of that, I had some doubts if I should even reveal this version to the world at all, but in the end it turned out to be the right move as far as the feedback so far is exceptional.

How do you approach a dj set? Which is your way of conveying emotions?
I would say that it depends on the length of the set, the vibe, people, set time, venue etc. Almost everything. I do approach differently almost every single time, but I tend to always stick to my own style with gradually transitioning from progressive to techno.
Which song do you listen to when you take off your DJ headphones?
Pink Floyd’s “Shine On You Crazy Diamond”.
Which are your artists / DJs / producers of reference?
I will be always praising Hernan Cattaneo for his ability to DJ. He is one of the bests in the business out there. From the production perspective I can strongly recommend some of the Anjunadeep artists – like Yotto & Marsh, for example. On the techno scene there is one name which always stands out for me and that’s – Enrico Sangiuliano.
How do you foresee your summer, both in your everyday life and from an artistic point of view?
From an artistic point of view, gigs are something I would like to do more but considering the times we are living in right now it is a tough one to achieve. As far as my everyday life is concerned, I honestly don’t know, I hav no plans for the summer. Whatever comes next.
What are your hopes for your artistic future at the moment?
I don’t like the word hope and I don’t believe in it. Hope is a beggar.
One of my goals is to constantly improve my production skills and to start releasing music for some of the most prominent labels. Which ones are on my radar, I will not reveal for now.
