#MusicInTheAir Podcast hosts this week :
Villahangar for its summer 2021 continues to welcome new artists into its musical orbit.
For this week the #MusicInTheAir Podcast’s host is the DJ and producer Arctrik.
Born in the London underground of the early 2000s, her musical style is full of deep influences from the likes of Chemical Brothers, Bjork or Tory Amos, to the more current sound of Whomadewho.
Present in the music scene to propose a different age to female electronic singers and to widely explore the boundaries within styles, she is recognized for her characteristic of working with experimental electronics and natural elements: precisely where his origins and attitudes are best reflected.
With her music and her artistic activity she is oriented in particular to more current issues than ever before: raising awareness towards respect for the environment and helping to relieve the pressure to which the planet is subjected.
Now, in fact, she joins forces with Tania, Barbara and Aitor for the Regeneration project, with which she conveys an important approach: the need to return to a simpler world, where to appreciate the present moment and to respect the natural order of life against unbridled production that threatens the well-being of the planet.
What is the recommended track in this DJ set?
The most significant track for me in this DJ Set I created for Villahangar has to be the Rampa Remix of Bind, originally by the band Howling.
The haunting vocals and the uneasiness of the melody line perfectly represent the inquietude the world is living through. As usual, Rampa transforms the original melodic track into a subtle rhythmic, hypnotic piece.
Which are your reference artists / DJs / producers or what advice do you follow?
I am forever impressed by the work of producers such DJ T., Dj Tennis, Audiojack for instance.
What song do you listen to when you remove the DJ headphones?
Whilst washing dishes I would listen to Childish Gambino or the early Elton John for instance.
How do you foresee your summer, both in everyday life and from an artistic point of view?
I am extremely lucky to have a busy season in Ibiza with DJ residencies at hotels and resorts such 7pines or W hotel in Ibiza. I know that having a steady income from the job I love to do these days is a luxury, so I savor every minute of it. I also find the time to keep practicing piano and enjoy the sea diving in this great island.
What are your hopes for your artistic future at the moment?
I am focusing my efforts on always improving my production skills as well as integrating music theory and piano technique to my electronic based material. I just want to keep exploring further boundaries which motivates me as much as it did the first day.
Which are your new musical projects in the near future?
At the moment I am involved in a very interesting project called “Regeneration Project” which will soon see light. We are working hard to propose a parallel music scene that respects the environment and aims to aid and relieve the pressure it is under.
