#MusicInTheAir Podcast hosts this week :
AMOUR PROPRE
Young, French and with a name that carries in itself their love for music from an early age and perseverance: they are the Amour Propre, a duo composed of Sami and Clement, guest today for this week’s MusicInTheAir Podcast.
The two artists, respectively 26 and 20 years old, are both French: Clement was born in the Riviera, in the south, while Sami in Lille, in the north, and both were immersed in a family circle very oriented towards music and composition.
Theirs was a real musical love at first sight: their artistic partnership was born thanks to a deep harmony, immediately after discovering that they had exactly the same musical tastes.
From their union emerges a sound full of deep house-oriented vibrations with ethnic influences, in reference to their parents and grandparents and the love of both for travel and the discovery of new places.
Thus trying to convey energy and joie de vivre through music, a true language of expression and that describes their everyday feelings, going from power to softness.
Amour Propre is a very young project, but one that has already scored collaborations with several labels and, as Sami and Clement say, “fantastic people”.
Their Podcast for Villahangar was created by combining new discoveries and better known songs, chosen among those that most inspired and inspire the artistic imprint of their duo.
When and how was your first meeting with music?
We both come from musicians’ families. Sami started to express his interest in music with his brother who is a famous producer known as Petit Biscuit. Clement started playing guitar and piano at a very young age as Sami.
What was the key meeting that changed your path?
Clement was a DJ on the French Riviera and Sami produced music under the name of Jelloun. When we met, we really decided to start a big project together because we had the same vibe. This meeting has really been a turning point in our career.
What genre do you associate yourself with and how would you define your sound?
We associate ourselves with a powerful deep house music. We mix this genre with world instruments and vibes in every track we produce. We love to discover new instruments / culture in our songs. We spend a lot of time in searching new fresh instruments from all over the world.
Music conveys emotions. Which are the ones you want to transmit with your music?
Our productions are orientated to be powerful, and we want our listeners to be really immersed in the music. For every new track, we try to express a new feeling to share with our public. We want our public to travel when they listen to our songs.
What does it mean for you to be able to spread your music with Villahangar?
We are happy to share this podcast with such a great label as Villahangar. We really tried to show, during this podcast, our vibe and inspiration throughout our music. We love Villahangar’s podcasts and releases, and we like to play their songs during our sets.
