#MusicInTheAir Podcast hosts this week :
ADEMAN
The debuts of more and more new artists in Villahangar’s #MusicInTheAir Podcast continue: today it is the turn of Javi Carmona, born in Barcelona in 1981, aka Ademan.
From a very young age he dealt with music: at home, always pop music at the time.
But it was in 1991 that his taste for electronics began to develop: since he discovered the album “Pump Up The Jam” by Tech notronic, a masterpiece for him, which made him discover new sounds, many of them synthetic and that opened a new world to him on a musical level.
But it was later, at 16 or 17 years old, that with a friend he took his first steps in music production. Over the years he has put aside music production. He says: “Because for lack of training and knowledge, I never managed to create a sound that I had just identified.”
But it was then that he discovered House music, which was in full swing, in the late 90s and early 2000s. He continues: “This moment is very important for my musical training because I am rediscovering and reinventing myself in that sense and cultivating my taste that was too marked by the influence of past eras. Although as a young man I never looked for opportunities to perform live in clubs or clubs in the area, I always had the intention to do so.”
And it was not many years ago that he began to train in academies and to give personal lessons to improve technique in both djing and music production.
In 2019 he then started working in several local discos, but 2020 with the pandemic has stopped all those projects to date.
“Despite this, in 2020 I had the opportunity to work in other types of environments and places, such as the beach clubs in the area, where I had to adapt musically to create environments and atmospheres that the place required. For all this I am very grateful and I hope that already in 2021 we will be able to enjoy the total freedom and autonomy that our sector deserves, so affected by this pandemic”.
When and how was your first encounter with music?
When I was very young, I discovered electronics thanks to Technotronic, a mythical group of the time that had a great influence on me.
What was the key meeting that changed your path?
I have always had a special interest in dance music, but discovering house music in the late 90s was key to my understanding of electronic music.
What genre do you associate with and how would you define your sound?
I consider myself a very eclectic person musically. I have always said that good music is always welcome, whatever the style, but above all I like minimal, minimal house or tech house and deep house in its most “raw” versions. In recent years I have discovered and worked on other styles, such as progressive house, afro house, etc… which also attract my attention.
Music conveys emotions. Which ones do you want to convey with your music?
Music conveys moods, but I prefer my music to be more club and dance. There’s nothing more rewarding than seeing how people enjoy dancing and smiling with a session of good music.
How did your podcast come about?
Due to or thanks to the pandemic and lack of work, I also decided to create new sets for my followers,
so in one way or another you also create your musical identity and can pass it on to other people
What does it mean for you to be able to spread your music with Villahangar?
It is a great pleasure that Teodora and Chris offered me to participate in Villahangar. It is worthy of admiration that they give opportunities to emerging artists who seek to advance in their musical career and who would have much more difficulty without this help. I am enormously grateful to them.
