#MusicInTheAir Podcast hosts this week : MATIZZE
Matizze leads the way as first of a series of artists who will be protagonists of the new Villahangar project : UNDERWATER [Various Artists].
A special foray that turns its gaze to the most interesting producers of today, among brand new talents and names already known and established.
But we do not anticipate anything: here is the first Podcast, which together with the following ones will accompany us in the next weeks waiting to find out more.
When he was a kid Matizze met the world of Metal and Hard Rock with bands such as Metallica, Slipknot and Offspring. And it was one day, when a friend of his brother’s played a tape recorded with the music of Josh Wink and Prodigy, that he became interested in music production, trying to understand the sound and structure of each track.
Producer and DJ for more than 5 years, enthusiastic and energetic, Georgi Mitev aka Matizze sees his creative work unraveling between deep house sounds and ethnic tech, able to attract an extremely refined taste for electronic music and create captivating atmospheres.
Lover of Downtempo and moving between Organic House, Deep House and Melodic Techno, he is however not tied to a specific genre, and loves composing music with acoustic and emotional elements, combined with groove rhythms, to pleasantly entertain the track and to honor, fundamental for him, the contact with the public.
He has a relationship of choice with nature, capable of stimulating and inspiring his creativity, in a continuous dialogue to discover himself, keeping his strong creative spirit and desire of perfection.
On his musical journey he joined the Diass’ No Orders Community and was part of their summer festivals “Lost Gipsy Land” and “Forest Carnival”.
It is also increasingly part of the list of AWOL artists for each of their famous events recognized for a specific industrial style, with great response from the public. He is very active, thanks to the support of the public and some established DJs and producers, always working on new tracks.
When and how did was your first meeting with music?
Like every kid, I used to listen a lot of Metal and Hard Rock, I liked the emotion of this music. My favorite bands were Metallica, Slipknot, Offspring. I remember one day that a friend of my brother came to our house and played a tape recorded of Josh Wink and Prodigy music. That was the moment when I really got really interested in how is made it and starting in my mind to know how works each sound and the structure of the tracks.
What genre do you associate with and how would you define your sound?
Interesting question. The thing is, every time I’ve just ignored my ego and perfectionism, I realize that I don’t have a genre. Yes, I have some orders which is called from the industry as Organic House / Deep House / Melodic Techno. But with my own words my music is acoustic emotional world elements, combined with really groove beats and rhytm. The most important thing to me is to make a sound who can make you move.
What does it mean for you to be part of Villahangar and why did you decide to accept the invitation of this label to collaborate?
To be honest, first of all I liked the logo and the graphics of the label. It is clear and freshly. Then I just met Chris (Everything Counts), Matt Sawyer and I were so in love with their “UMMA” track, then we just share some tracks and feedbacks. I use to support a lot of their tracks in my podcast, so it was natural to become a part with my debut track “Siddhartha” for Villahangar. Thank you for the opportunity 🙂
How was this track born?
The track was born, just for jamming some interesting sounds, like usual. But at that time, I was reading my favorite book of Hermann Hesse – “Siddhartha”, it is my personal Holy Bible. Somehow those sounds just reminded me of this book and the “Siddhartha”’s journey is representative for me, and I recommend this book to anyone who wants to meet his internal world.

What are the atmospheres, the type of sound and what have you tried to convey with this song?
I just found how different I produce music, when I make it outside – in my garden or just in some forest. Maybe it’s weird but I feel somehow the nature opens my creativity to accept a experimental sounds and leave them the way they sound, without thinking too much. So that is the golden moment when you are in to the flow, reaceaving from the nature – transmiting trough your DAW – and you just create the whole composition just for an hour!
The Various Artist is a project that brings together different artists. What do you think about? How do you live going out with other artists?
Oh, I definitely love it! One things I like most about music is the communication, not only with the artists but with the people who decide to choose to be part of a particular party! You can find me often dancing in the crowd, I I want to feel the energy. On the other hand I’m feeling so passioned and enspired when I met other artists, having talks about music, planing collabs or B2B DJ sets. I think the music is a communication, we create music for the people. That’s why the happiest moment is when you play it to the crowd. That is mean to be an Artist. And that’s the difference between the Music Producer and the Artist.
