Cristina Molina

#MusicInTheAir Podcast hosts this week :
CRISTINA MOLINA (ECOAMA)

For the last MusicInTheAir Podcast in August, Cristina Molina returns, the artist who welcomed Villahangar’s 2021.

A long journey in the music scene, which began well in 1998: represented by several agencies, she worked for a long time for the Pink Records label and still in the organization of the Festivals thus knowing in depth the global electronic scene and its dynamics over time, developing a wide musical taste that ranges between Deep, Deep-House, Deep-Tech, Minimal and Techno. Today she lives in Ibiza.

In addition to the creation and development in the past of a collective of five women deejays, called Pink Project, hers is the creation of Ecoama Djs, a collective of DJs inspired by the Ecoama Environmental Sustainability Ibiza, the professional fair for ecological culture and environmental sustainability of Ibiza created in 2015 and held in the Palacio de Congresos de Santa Eulalia.

Divided into two parts, one professional and one cultural, with recreational and musical activities that has made everyone participate in the awareness and conservation of our Planet Earth, it inspired Cristina Molina who, with 23 years of experience in the music sector as a DJ, aware of the communication power of music, has therefore decided to invite artists to the collective as EcoDj.

The goal of Ecoama Djs, a platform from which she promotes the great work for the care of the planet that many people are already doing all over the world, is to create more awareness by launching a message in favor of the conservation of the environment, reminding the public of the importance of taking care of the planet, through music.

Reasoning and pushing the reflection also on the possible alternatives for resources for events and dancefloors in terms of greener and more sustainable energies to be used for musical equipment, lighting, etc. Over time, with Ecoama Djs, she has been present in the best radio stations of Ibiza: she started in Ibiza Smil then in Loca FM Ibiza, Playasol Ibiza Radio, Ibiza Global Radio for two and a half years and she is currently on Pure Ibiza Radio with the same Ecoama Dj Program.

The project continues, even if the pandemic situation does not allow travel and DJ sets in other parts of the world, with the radio program on www.pureibizaradio.com, carried out together with Tania Moon and the Ecodjs invited to the program, usually residents of the island, thanks to collaborations with other channels.

In the present of Ecoama Djs by Cristina Molina, there is to continue as much as possible to pursue on this path. Among the objectives, to realize a dream: a second edition of Ecoama Environmental Sustainability Ibiza really sustainable, with a beautiful cultural event with renewable energy dancefloors, where you can dance dancing through the music of EcoDjs.

You have worked extensively with the Pink Records label. What memory do you have of those years?

Wonderful memories at Pink Records. I worked 7 years with my former partner and friend Javi Golo, he was in charge of creating all the music that came out of the studio. It was undoubtedly one of my best moments, I was about 20 years old, I started in stock by putting the discs on their covers since they arrived separately, then making orders by putting the disc cuts to the customer by phone.

We sold a lot and always traveled all over Spain at events and festivals, we set up a stand at Sonar Barcelona, as well as passing through all the stands where Javi Golo was invited. This was really the period that marked my destiny as a DJ, I spent many hours in the booths and in the studio, and it was there that my ear formed if I realized it. Vinyl has marked my life and I have a great experience with them, my best caresses have been with vinyl. Haha!! When I entered the digital world, djing (playing) was never the same.

You have also been organizing festivals for a long time, what is your vision about it? How should the international music scene behave and how is it behaving in your opinion? In which direction do you think the world of music should move to overcome the impossibility of live events?

I have been very lucky to be able to organize beautiful and important events, but we continue and will continue without being able to realize any festival or cultural event while the pandemic is in the foreground. The direction of the music was on the right track, now from the pandemic, since they blocked us it will be difficult to overcome this stop without knowing how long we will be active as before. Small things are done to musicalize the spaces, but big events where I can have fun and dance without restrictions I have not yet seen them.

We can only support each other and have patience so that everything returns to normal and the music and everything that entails shines with its own light.

Can you tell us about your Pink Project?

Pink Project was a collective of 5 female dis that was created in 1999 in Tenerife without any purpose, we just wanted to get together and play. We had two proposals. Pink Canaria from Tenerife – who were 3 djs: Viky Morales, Geli Cruz and Cristina Molina – and Pink Projets – which included 5 djs, two from Barcelona, Fernanda Diaz and Samantha, and then Nuria Guia, also from Barcelona.

We toured Spain with vinyl suitcases on our shoulders, they were unforgettable moments and full of good memories. This project only lasted about 2.3 years, then I decided to act independently together with the production company Elemethal Events which was the initial platform for my launch as a DJ and organizer of the Eólica, Magma etc. festivals in Tenerife.

And your past AMAlive project?

AMAlive, it was a beautiful and traumatic adventure at the same time. Two people joined together on the path of love and music, creating beautiful sessions where we merged in an enveloping and creative atmosphere, where I played and the other person subtly played on top of my set with wind instruments, saxophone, trumpet and flute. crosspiece. Currently this project no longer exists.

How has the situation of discos and clubs been in this last month of summer and how is it going right now?

The situation is the same, the macro discos are closed and in some outdoor places events are held but not mass. Some musical groups and DJs, musicalize spaces such as restaurants and hotels, but not with big parties and in compliance with Covid regulations.

It is hoped that in the years to come the situation will change for everyone and Ibiza will continue to be the main icon worldwide as the best showcase for electronic music and artists in general.
