Biography
Matteo Saverio Cacciola aka
Mavee / Matt Sawyer was born in Calabria and started his artistic journey moving from his native city to Milan, chasing opportunities to express his true passion of music.
His first experiences in music started in 2003, collaborating with musicians and professionals from various Music Academy and from Milano’s La Scala theatre.
His skills in composing and editing got stronger year by year also attending recording studios.
At the beginning, Matteo used to act under the name Mavee. He developed some projects as Mavee that let him be known internationally like Muthafunk with Ale Bucci. Also, Adele remix of “Rolling in the deep” in 2012 and Slapping released on Release Yourself, Roger Sanchez’s label, gave him visibility.
In 2015, he met Andrea Pellizzari and they founded two independent labels, Villahanagar and TopTown Records.
From here comes the Matt Sawyer project, which consists of a kind of alter ego. His first single (“After Hours”) was released by Top Town Records in 2015.
He recorded two more experimental and interpersonal singles : the progressive “A Track” and a techno/jam “B.O.H.”.
From 2016 to 2019 he started collaborating with Everything Counts, a duo formed by Chris Leon and Toshka. Together, they created tracks like : “Alis” (with solo by Chris Leon in 2017) released on Top Town Records, “Sestante” (2018) and “Umma” (2019) released on Villahangar.
In 2018 he made “Weaker” remix, a track by the dj/producer Juza in two different versions: afro dub remix on Villahangar and vocal remix in collaboration with Chris Leon on Top Town Records.
In summer 2019 his track Tribe was played and selected by Solomun to be part of compilation by Diynamic Music, FOURTH FOR THE FLOOR 14. Solomun himself at the moment plays all over the world IDs from Matt Sawyer like Cloud’s Song e Simplify.
2020 is going to be kicked off with a release agenda extremely full: Sunday Morning EP will be released on Villahangar by Friday 17.01.20 as a three tracks pack with Scala, Sunday Morning and Pleasure Tango featuring Everything Counts.
Two more tracks are about to be released on Claps Recordings, Luca Guerrieri’s label; one more 3 tracks EP will be released on Kinesen (by Tommy J Gren and Parsifal), and a 3 tracks LP on Dear Deep by Alex Ka.
